  • Addressing the individual learning styles of students can be a challenge for teachers. The World Wide Web contains a vast number of resources to assist teachers in understanding and planning for the different avenues through which students learn best. Participants in this workshop will review a range of web sites providing information about learning theory related to learning styles and multiple intelligences, as well as resources to assist teachers in both identifying students' learning styles and intelligences and engaging students in activities which best suit those styles and intelligences. Participants will become familiar with teaching strategies and tools targeted for each learning style and intelligence and develop a preliminary lesson plan using those strategies and tools.

  • This semester-long online training course prepares teams of participants from an organization to be Online Course Design Specialists who can effectively address all aspects of designing and delivering online courses for teacher professional development or middle/high school and college students. During the course, participants are guided through the process of defining course goals, readings, activities, discussion questions, alignment to state and national standards, assessment, and strategies for building a learning community. Participants will examine theories of online learning to create and run effective online courses that address the specific needs of their audience. Upon completion of this course, participants will be eligible to deliver the online courses they have developed for their local students and/or teachers and to participate in a year-long support forum with ETLO staff and Online Course Design Specialists from other organizations.
  • This course, conducted entirely online for teams of participants from educational organizations, explores recent developments in the field of online learning and provides participants with specialized training to facilitate online professional development workshops for K-12 teachers. Participants will gain direct experience with online course tools, asynchronous discussion environments and specific facilitation techniques as they learn how to effectively integrate online learning into ongoing professional development programs. Critical implementation issues such as access, universal design and evaluation are addressed as key elements of successful online professional development programs. As a final product, participants collaborate with other team members on a plan to implement a set of online workshops for participants within their organizations.

  • This workshop is designed to familiarize participants with the principles of Project-Based Learning (PBL). Throughout this six-week workshop, exemplary projects will be analyzed, critiqued, and evaluated for applicability to participants' classroom needs. Participants will gain hands-on experience using software tools to support the planning and execution of projects, and develop collaborative, inquiry-based projects that support their curricular goals. Participants will learn to blend PBL and standards-based design strategies to create curriculum units that enhance student learning. Each participant will leave the online workshop with a detailed plan for a PBL project.

  • Do you have questions about the new ICT Literacy Standards? Learn more about the standards and things to think about as you help your district to implement an ICT Literacy Program.

  • The ICT Literacy Summer Institute 2006 brought together participants from all across the state to learn more about the ICT standards in New Hampshire, create examples of student portfolios, and create case studies of the process for districts. Materials created during the institute were then made publicly available for all New Hampshire schools to use and adapt to support their own ICT Literacy Programs.
